The "No Kings" Movement: Trump and US Systemic Fragility

The “No Kings” Movement and the Risk for Donald Trump

October 31, 2025

The manifest  “elite infighting” in the United States coupled with the competition and rivalry that these power groups have within the country’s military or political forces, and the growing public distrust of traditional elites. Clear examples of this are the competition between special operations units, such as the Special Naval Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) and the Delta Force, as well as the tension between the political, economic and intellectual elites and the population.

As all this unfolds, we can see the systemic fragility of the United States manifesting itself in a combination of economic weakness, internal political instability, and dependence on specific sectors, creating vulnerability to future crises.

These are the main internal sectors that oppose Donald Trump, which include the political left and liberal organizations, which he accuses of fomenting domestic terrorism, and certain sectors of the Republican Party, such as conservatives and those in the technology wing, who oppose his trade policy, according to Politico.  In addition, there are conflicts with leaders of neighboring countries, such as Venezuela y Nicaragua, who oppose his administration and his immigration and tariff policies.

For all of the above, massive public demonstrations have been called throughout the country under the slogan “Without Kings”. Its promoters consider that Trump seeks to outlaw the republic, acting de facto as a “king” with absolute power.

For all of the above, massive public demonstrations have been called throughout the country under the slogan “Without Kings”. Its promoters consider that Trump seeks to outlaw the republic, acting de facto as a “king” with absolute power.

For their part, the organizers of “No Kings” say that they will not give up in their efforts to mobilize more people in the streets and prevent Trump’s plans from materializing.

For his part, the Republican president insinuated that these demonstrations are financed by tycoons such as George Soros and that he will continue to send national guardsmen to the different states to impose his executive orders.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump, who is currently more focused on showing himself as a leader in the international arena. But domestically, they have a great rejection among the Latino community, which is the most affected by deportations. Democrats are not benefiting from the disappointment of voters, who still rely more on Republicans to handle immigration.

Donald Trump’s enemies have made it clear that the office of the presidency is not a birthright. It’s not a crown. It is not maintained by force, nor is it above the law. It exists only within the framework of the U.S. Constitution, granted by a document whose legitimacy is based on the rule of law and the consent of the governed.

Thus, when a president sets out to dismantle the very structure that defines the authority of his office, he renounces his right to legitimate power. Thus, when a president sets out to dismantle the very structure that defines the authority of his office, he renounces his right to legitimate power.

And what can be observed to this day, is that Donald Trump has intensified his public and private efforts to consolidate personal control over the federal government, while openly ignoring fundamental constitutional principles. These include attempts to subordinate the Justice Department, circumvent judicial independence, neutralize congressional oversight and threaten retaliation against his political opponents.

As a consequence, there is a slow erosion of the system of checks and balances that defines the American republic, and perhaps the end of democratic freedoms in the United States.
